Royalties this quarter were excellent! Royalties exceeded most estimates by $50 million. Going forward, royalties are a substantial part of the QCOM business model. The model is now more clear. The timeline for rollout of high speed wireless access has been shortened. High speed wireless data via HDR is now only about a year away. The Japanese carriers all want faster data access. It sounds like DoCoMo will move over to CDMA, as it is currently testing the technology. All major manufacturers will be using Q's IS95B and 1xt ASICS. There is no working competition.

I agree that in the very short term there may be some selling pressure in the stock from those anticipating a split or looking for absolute blow out numbers. But, long term I have absolutely no concerns.

Didn't this same type of panic selling happen last quarter when Q didn't "blow out" the earnings? Q was down big in after hours trading. It didn't last very long. I don't think it will last long this quarter either.

By the way, I'm glad that Dr. J got a nice bonus. He deserved every penny.
