David

I am extremely sceptical about the real value of this deal for PCLN, at least in the short to medium term.

Having lived in Asia for 6 years, the potential target market size for PCLN's services is miniscule. ON Raging Bull this morning one of the posters spoke about 1 Bn Chinese. Using that example of CHina alone, apart from perhaps Beijing and Shanghai ,there are no other markets where any potential PCLN customers exist. You then factor in the extremely low credit card penetration rate, the cultural barriers, the low internet penetration rate, and we have just reduced the potential target market size down to miniscule percentages from where we started.

Your thoughts?
S Pal

David,

This HW/PCLN alliance has huge positive implications for PCLN. Asians ex-Japan have much less reluctance to haggle over prices for the necessities of life than do Americans or Europeans. Also significant is the fact that HW has licensed PCLN's online auction system.

My problem with PCLN is their website. I mean, can this single page be the best IR can come up with:

corporate-ir.net

and with the CC still non-functional as of this writing?
