NN,

I'm not going. I may sneak over to see merq at the ssb conference, but I generally view brokerage conferences as a HUGE waste of time for the way BD and I do our work.

If we don't know things better than the ANALysts and know what the management's going to say in advance, we don't deserve 1/20.

We do most of our work in the field. I still hope to meet you at one of these NYC shindigs.

TD

***OT***

>I think Mataka has a friend at Goldy maybe he can fly out there and post all the good stuff.

doesn't everyone have a friend at Goldy?

(yo, while we're namedropping, let it be known that only my tight Wu gangbangers can refer to me as Mataka [pronounced Muh-tay-kuh], so don't be like throwing it around liberally on da Street. btw, how's your own Wu Name working out up there?)

(fwiw, originally spelled Mateyka and full-on Polak.)

care to share the etymology on Neiderhoffer, o Soros?

for the record, my pal at GS just flew the coop because of his megalomaniacal boss. according to him, in the weeks leading up to his departure, the boss made the secretary cry repeatedly, berated them for not working the day after x-mas, and was highly perturbed when junior boy on the totem pole left work at 9pm one night to spend an evening with his girlfriend (just in from Londontown). hence, the day after working there until 3am, he trashed the place.

i oughta ask my pal if he's seen Swimming with Sharks.

whatever. on CMVT, he couldn't've helped us out anyway. crikey, he's an auto analyst!

and where did he depart to? said without irony, e-steel.com!

Lycos, Comverse Technology, Orbotech, Lam Research, ATMI, Genesis Microchip Among Companies Presenting at Informed Investors Forums in Boston and New York Feb. 22 and Feb. 24
02/08/2000
PR Newswire

BOSTON, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Experience what a "level playing field for individual investors" really means at upcoming Informed Investors Forums in Boston and New York on Feb. 22 and Feb. 24, where executives, analysts and fund managers will gather to give insights on the tech sector to individual investors. Thanks to the democratization enabled by the Internet, the experience can be virtual too.

For years, in-person presentations by senior management of public companies have been the privy of the institutional audience -- fund managers and professional investors -- but at Informed Investors Forums, individual investors have the same opportunity to hear executives in an interactive, educational fashion. The events also include sector overviews by analysts and fund managers who share insights on how they research potential investments.

At Boston's Seaport Hotel/World Trade Center on Tuesday, Feb. 22, companies scheduled to participate include: Lycos (Nasdaq: LCOS), ATMI (Nasdaq: ATMI), Lam Research (Nasdaq: LRCX), Pervasive Software (Nasdaq: PVSW) and Caere Corp. (Nasdaq: CAER). Others are pending.

At the Princeton Club in Manhattan on Thursday, Feb. 24, companies scheduled include: Comverse Technology (Nasdaq: CMVT); CareerBuilder, Inc. (Nasdaq: CBDR), Orbotech (Nasdaq: ORBK), Genesis Technology (Nasdaq: GNSS), Bell Microproducts (Nasdaq: BELM) and Caere. Others are pending.

Keynote speakers at both Forums are Peter Trapp, portfolio manager of the Needham Growth Fund, and Carl Johnson, Director and co-founder of INFRASTRUCTURE (http://www.infras.com). Johnson is a top semiconductor analyst. Trapp favors small-cap tech stocks (http://www.needhamco.com/Asset_Management/Needham_Growth_Fund).

Adam Dell, Manager of Impact Venture Partners' fund and brother of Dell Computer founder Michael Dell, is tentatively scheduled as the third keynote speaker in New York. (Call 800-992-4683 to confirm.) Dell is an experienced venture capitalist exclusively focused on the Internet. He plans to invest the fund in early stage business-to-business e-commerce companies, application service providers and content infrastructure opportunities in the northeastern market.

Both Forums will run from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Attendance costs $25 prepaid, $40 at the door. To register, go to www.informedinvestors.com or call 800-992-4683.
