<<DoCoMo will have a limited 3G system sometime in 2001, probably at only 64KB/sec and maybe not the 3G standard. Any large movement to 3G by DoCoMo is still years away. >>

this is typical of Qualcomm's method of managing information in my opinion. NTT has stated that their roll out of 3g will be at 384kbps. They've also noted that current 3g tests have been running at 384kbps involving about 1000 people south of Nagoya.

it is ridiculous, in my opinion, to call a 64kbps a "3g" system since the minimum speed specified by the ITU as qualified 3g speed is 384kbps. Nokia's WCDMA tests in China with the RTT have been running at 384kbps. IDC's own BCDMA system was running at 384kbps both by IDC and through Siemens' tests, running video and other multimedia data on a wireless basis.

IDC's involvement has been both direct and through cooperation with Nokia relative to the product development they've committed to with Nokia.

why Qcom gave out wrong information, I don't know. it's not unusual, though
