Paul, there is no management credibility or honesty issue here. NT simply stated facts and chose to highlight the facts under Canadian GAAP, probably because they have done so in the past and they are a Canadian company.

The street comes up with all these estimates and it is up to them to make interpretations! NT should not have to make interpretations for them.

Geeeez!!!....I thought I'd log on before going to bed so that I could have pleasant dreams about the All-Time Highs in after-hour trading only to find that .55 cents is really .44 cents and that .41 cents should be .39 cents and that there is a gap between the GAAPs.....

I think I'll pull out the NyQuil and sleep through till Friday.

Master

CNBC report on NT

1) Remake the company? Yup...that's what we're trying todo.

2) Nortel in right products: Made a bet that Inet would drive growth, and that bet is paying off. REvenues 21% up. Order backlog at 11B, up 4B, due to high capacity systems. Optical, switching and routing all parts of our product suite.

3) Capacity constaints?: No, production ramped up this year. Increase optical capacity by 6.

4) Quantify relative to supply constaints: <didn't get reply>

5) Progress on transition from core switching business. ATM transition in place, smaller part of NT everyday.

6) See voice info traveling in INET packet? Network cost trillions of dollars to build, vioce systems will slowly migrate to data networks, with data growing 10x faster than voice. Will need to be optimized for data.

7) Voice costs are high. Why? because of historic reasons. Competition will fix this.

Someone else please add to this, and confirm.

G'day Paul & all - 1st, plz allow me to be the contrarian here. NT is technically a Canadian company, even though it is a truly borderless multinational, I do not think she is at fault by showing both Canadian and US GAAP. Maybe we Americans are a bit ethnocentric?! [Ok, I got to fest up, I am an American but some of my relatives are Canadians <G>.] Remember, many of us here in this thread are trading on the Toronto exchange. Anyway, I think we are beating a dead horse here, so I will move on...

Mr Roth did an outline on ebiz needs at ComNet here.

best, Bosco
