The CDG reported 42 million CDMA subs at the end of September, up from 33 million in the previous quarter. If CDMA adds an equal number in the Dec quarter, they are going to exceed 50 million by year end. That growth was predicated on QCOM shipping 11 million ASICS in that quarter. Since QCOM shipped 15 million ASICS this quarter, they should easily exceed 50 million subs at the end of 1999.

Going forward, CDMA should increase it's customer base by at least 28 million per quarter by the end of the year (40% of 70 million). What do you think that will do for the royalties? Q1 2001 would show 250% growth from the comps in this current period (Q1 2000).

Put the numbers a different way - CDMA is going to more than double the number of total users of CDMAone this year. Think about the impact that 1X and HDR will have on the installed base of CDMA users, not to mention the conversion of all the GSM networks.

Take your shoe off and pound the table on this report. CDMA and QCOM have only one direction over the next few years.
