The story is not sin. It merely shows the compassion and the love for his creation that he has. Mathew 12: "8 ?Here is my servant, whom I have chosen, my beloved, with whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles. 19 He will not wrangle or cry aloud, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets. 20 He will not break a bruised reed or quench a smoldering wick until he brings justice to victory. 21 And in his name the Gentiles will hope.? By this verse it shows his care for those who are hurt, or possible brought low by other men who are uncaring. But Jesus says he will not break a reed that is bruised or put out a smoldering reed. There are many smoldering wicks and bruised reeds who desparately need a compassionate person to put balm on their wounds, whether physical or mental. The kindness of the good Samaritan is a race for you to run, Brian. It is for all of us to run, whether a Jim Bakker or a wounded animal lying by the side of the road. We spit on them or we turn our heads to their dilemma or we stop and bind up their wounds and by so doing, we are binding up the wounds of our blessed Jesus.
