Thread -- From briefing.com (1/25)
Tuesday - After Hours : After hours activity these days is all about earnings, and today is no
exception... A number of high-profile companies reported better than expected results including
Qualcomm (QCOM), Compaq (CPQ), eBay (EBAY), RealNetworks (RNWK) and Nortel Networks
(NT)... RNWK and NT added 2-for-1 stock splits to their impressive numbers and the results are
bullish - both stocks up big... On the other hand, QCOM is down over 13 points on news that Q2
phone shipments may fall sequentially; and CPQ is down after noting that top-line growth in year-ahead
should be only about 15%... EBAY is up big so far on huge jump in members and very impressive
top-line growth... However emerging concerns over margins and Q1 numbers could put gains at risk...
*****
Compaq (CPQ) 31 -2: Reuters reporting that Michael Capellas, CPQ's president and chief executive,
said Q1 revenues will decline compared with a seasonally strong fourth quarter, but the outlook will
improve once the current quarter is over; he also expects to see revenues grow by 15% this year over
1999's $38.5 billion.....
