Ill help you out here with a second party dialog.

I checked on the status of the Service Merchandise bonds due in jan 2001. Those bonds are currently in default (trading flat). They cannot be paid until bankruptcy is exited. That I believe is scheduled for April 2001?

At that time, they should pay full face value.

I don't own SVCDQ stock, but I did buy those bonds for my elderly dad's portfolio. Waiting for a successful exit from
bankruptcy would seem to make the most sense. What do you think?
