Dear Eric and all: Anyone remember Mike R. saying EMC revenue would top 10 billion by 2001? Well, I just calculated that if they only grow the top line by 25% next two years comes to 10.5 BILLION. I would say now that DEC is pretty well absorbed and they just acquired another software firm which will help them speed their software to market we got a good chance of at least returning to the top line growth of 30%+ and in addition at least maintaining the margins as software continues to grow. Eric, Re:EMC down slightly in AMT..seems you can't impress the street these days...

My first 5 minute look at the report: we have gotten used to predictions of 30 - 40% revenue growth. That is not evident in these numbers:

Total revenue for the fourth quarter was $1.88 billion, 21% higher than the fourth quarter of 1998.

For the full 1999 fiscal year, EMC's revenue totaled $6.72 billion, 24% higher than 1998.

I'm disappointed because this stock is priced for perfection. People want to compare it to Cisco, well, Cisco had 49% revenue growth Q over Q in their last report. This ain't no Cisco, at least WRT revenue growth.

I'm holding, because EMC is a gorilla that keeps gaining market share (I think) in an exploding market, has the best products, but I hope to find out better stuff than this.
