JDN, Remember, Data General was recorded as a Pooling of Interest NOT a purchase. That means they have to
restate previous years and include Data General in the Base both years. I bet if you pulled out DG revenue you would
find you like this a lot more. JDN

last year EMC reported revenue of 1,130(This number is in millions, so actual revenue was 1.13 billion). If you go
to the EMC website and look at revenue analysis who will see that the EMC base was 1,568(excluding Data
General).Calculate the percentage gain 1,568-1,130= 438. Then 438/1,130 = .3875 which is greater than 38%.
EMC symetrix(Base EMC) was very strong this quarter. Normally this growth is around 35%.

So what is the problem? Confusion, which I admit I had?
