Omaha, Neb.-based Ameritrade isn't exactly short on cash, but it needs to keep up its own ad blitz, which could mean the company will liquidate most of its 7% stake -- worth more than $270 million -- in Knight/Trimark (Nasdaq:NITE - news) sometime this year and also tap its credit lines, says Ameritrade Chairman Joe Ricketts.

Well, Bear Sterns hopes Nite will fail correct? They may be trying to damage Nite, because of that. I am neither short or long, but thinking about going long. Looks attractive.

stearns has major personal issues with NITE. pretty much nite beats their mm to the trade.
