QCOM targets were based on penetration of CDMA going from ~20% to 80% with demand remaining unknown and therefore a timeframe for this penetration remaining unknown. JDSU on the other hand has further potential penetration as you've noted, as well as a demand exceding supply scenario (a good thing). Earnings announcement today should bring with it re-iteration that JDSU ramp up of production is on track. Market goes down with QCOM today, up with JDSU tomorrow, then down again with DELL. Staying long.

C. Michael Armstrong (CEO AT&T) interviewed the other morning on CNBC talked about how as utilization of the fiber increased in cable distribution network, you just continued to push more fiber and split the neighborhood loops in half.

Article on Lucent Bell Labs in Forbes talking about bendable fiber for "wiring" houses. [We will need to start calling it "fibering" houses.]

It's only begun.
