Just saw this blurb in an article about Brazil. DELL is racking up the partnerships.

Brazil's First Dot-Com

Bradesco's ability to innovate and quickly bring products and services to market quickly were singled out by none other than Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates in his book, ``Business @ the Speed of Thought: Using a Digital Nervous System.'

One of the first in the world to offer online banking, Bradesco recently started offering free Internet access to its customers. It also struck a deal with Dell Computer's (Nasdaq:DELL - news) Brazilian subsidiary to help customers finance the cost of computers. These moves are aimed at building customer loyalty and to position itself for an expected e-commerce boom in the region.

``When you look at what we are doing on the Internet, we are not taking small guerilla actions,' says Candido Leonelli, head of special products at Bradesco. ``We are leading a war.'

Bradesco's arsenal is its broad product offerings and network. It has a retail branch network of over 2,400 branches. And it's a leader in commercial banking, insurance (where it has 18% market share) and asset management.

``Bradesco has strong access to the mass market,' says Yolanda Courtines of JP Morgan. This group, which consists of low-income retail customers and small middle-market companies, is among ``the fastest growing markets.'
