Chuck, re:<More confirmation that there is a serious supply problem>
First, I checked on the availability of the FCPGA 500E and 550E's at thechipmerchant. They are definitely in stock and have been for about 2 weeks. I suspect the story in EB News was really talking about the 600E and 650E. In that case the 650E won't be out till the end of February instead of the end of January. That would make sense.

But I also confirmed the apparent disappearance of PIII's from the distributor channel. Thechipmerchant.com has no 100 MHz bus parts except the flip-chip 500E and 550E coppermines and a 600 MHz PIII. All the rest are 133 MHz bus parts, and the fastest coppermine is down to 667 again.

As for AMD, the 700 MHz Athlon is out of stock, but this is demand and not speed bin related, since the 750 is still in stock.
