Norman:
Micron doesn't make RDRAM yet but their PC division MicronPC makes a 840 chipset computer that makes the Compaq offering look like a Porsche vs Volkswagon.
To get a brief idea, Compaq's AP550 comes with a big ass internal speaker and one fan with a thermal sensor that controls it's speed. Micron's offering has cheap clone sound card circuitry and no built in speaker and two loud fans at full speed to keep computer cool. Other than that I haven't found much difference between them and the $700 price difference. However, I haven't run anything on it but a Teletubbies CD for my daughter.
