Wally: I watched with interest today as the Greenman was grilled on the margin issue. Schumer did a good job and Greenspan did say he was troubled by the situation and was studying it but was not prepared to do anything at this time. He said margin loans have nothing to do with stock prices. Well I say there is more to the margin issue than the level of stock prices. Some of that margin money does not go back to the stock market. It goes straight into the economy and it is the wealth effect at work. Gee, isn't the Greenman worried about the wealth effect? Hmmmm
