My father played this Yogi Yorgenson parody of “The Valley of the Drifting Whistling Sands” After every snow storm for my first 20 years. You may be able to relate to it during your arctic emergency.

Sung and spoken with a thick Swedish accent:

I found the valley of the drifting vistling snow,
between two great big snow banks ven I opened my door next morning.
And for hours I vounderd amimlessly
seeking the answers to the many qvastions that passed through my feeble brain.

Vere vas everyting?
Ver vas my sidewalk?
My old yaloppy?

Finally I realized I vas a pressoner
here in the valley of the drifting vistling snow.

Then my vife she vispered to me,
I got to go to ladies aid.
Shoffel out that old yaloppy.
And she handed me the spade.

Now the miners and the settlers,
fought those crazy Navahos.
But I tell you that vas nothn'
like those drifting vistling snows.

So I took my scoop and started,
Vere my old yaloppy stood.
After endless hours of shoffeling snow,
All I found vas youst the hood.

So I left my old snow shovel,
Lying there upon the snow.
Vile I vent in the house to dry my hands,
And warm my frossen toes.

Vile I vas gone the snow banks
Began to grow and grow.
Now my shoffel too is resting
Neath those drifting vistling snows.
