I have bolded what I feel is the key part of your post, but we also can't forget the huge significance of these recent additions to the company . . .

I didn't explain well enough, that's what I meant by "connections"; should have said explicitly "people", because they are of course much more than just well connected, they're strong strategically and operationally.
