I didn't know that...what total nonsense.
Computers have NOT made businesses more productive: government has made it more costly to have employees because of minimum wage, forced insurance, social security payments (half paid by employers) etc etc etc so many businesses have been forced to put in computerized machines instead of hiring personnel. This is especially true in the wood and cabinet shop businesses where OSHA terrorizes employers to the point that they'd rather have NO employees if they could. Is that more productive? Well, than what? The machines are ridiculously costly but at least they don't sue when they are layed off. You get my drift.
Also, like you, I have seen enormous amounts of time lost to playing on computers, or buying, or etc etc and done at work as well as at home.
And for children computers, like TV are terrible: it makes them more inactive, both physically and mentally.
Anyway thanks for any information you can give about gdp. I was wondering why we dont officially have inflation when its obvious we do. I was wondering why we officially have a surplus when its obvious we dont.
Best wishes.
