I suggest a contest for the best "Dell misses Q4. Mike calls Jerry" dialogue.

G> Someone give Mikey D Jerrys phone number. <G>

Jim, right now M. Dell is under heavy sedation surrounded
by security guards.

Meanwhile Dell shareholders are trying to break into corporate headquarters.

<Looks like INTC wasn't so altruistic after all.>

The signs were there for a long while now and got confirmed after Gateway earnings. Just that there are a whole bunch of folks sleeping at the wheel and not seeing the road in front of them.

But, all in all, Intel seems to have fared a lot better at Dell though. Diverting most of the high-end supplies probably helped ;-)

Dell is clearly being very friendly to Intel. They could have mentioned Intel and RDRAM but they did not.

Still AMD keeps looking better....

Jim - RE: "Looks like INTC wasn't so altruistic after all. DELL is done. Insert the fork. Another Intel casualty. Another great call by AMDroids. <G> Someone give Mikey D Jerrys phone number. <G>"

But Jim, Intel made $0.69 in Q4, so who cares what happens to Dell and Gateway? Why should Intel care about their customers as long as "yields are good, ramp is fine"?

jajajajajajaja

"The company said an inconsistent flow of key semiconductor components and a slower-than-expected rebound in sales to corporate and institutional customers related to the Y2K rollover were primary reasons for the shortfall."

Gee, did Intel lead Dell down the wrong route?

DRDRAM is such a great product it couldn't be that.

And yield and ramp is fine for FLOPPERMINE so there is no way in the world it could be that, is there?

Demand must have been so GREAT that Intel couldn't satisfy everyone. But Intel's IABG revenues and profits don't hint towards that.

Too bad Mr. Dell won't drive over to AMD's place. Intel will make more promises to him, like DRDRAM is the next big thing, FLOPPERMINE will win new orders.

Who would have thought over one year ago that one of the best stocks in the 90s would be a DOG in '99 and who knows how long in '00...
