repaying less for more processing power is a productivity gain (in the new way of computing gross domestic product).
I have to think about this to see if my opinion is there is any merit at all in it.

I can see that a productivity gain would be for a chip company that was EARNING more with less time/effort, but if the chips are going down in price at the same time they are getting faster, I dont see it as a productivity gain in any meaningful financial sense.
