"If you noticed they bought the stock today and it went down."

If you noticed, the trade occurred at about 3:58 p.m. Let's watch for reaction tomorrow, not today.

"That they needed the hype job is interesting."

What, a company isn't supposed to put out a basic press release when about 14% of its stock trades in a block transaction? ASCOM selling has been the subject of a lot of discussion -- even here -- for months. Silence would be weird.

"Maybe you could tell me why you own it and what fundamentals are driving your decision?"

To be very brief, Identix has by far the best price/performance product out there in this emerging market, the best alliances and channels, and the best financials (believe it or not) of all publicly traded biometric companies.

"Obviously falling sales, margins and mounting losses don't bother you."

There are two answers to this: IDX's apparent loss of market share in the government sales FBI identification market is worrisome, although I believe it has a lot to do with product cycles between them and a competitor (IDX has announced new-generation technology too recently to show up in the sales figures); On the bio-authentication side, where 99.9% of the market potential exists, they are growing revenues and sales at a quick rate. Margins will be much higher here, as soon as sales can outpace R&D. Still, it's a tiny base right now.
