I saw him duck his head in modest denial of the "national treasure" remark.

Also saw and heard his explanation about margin. I think he was saying that cutting margin requirements at the depth of the Depression had not affected stock prices, and therefore it was useless to employ margin requirements to maintain sanity in the stock market. Sort of like saying, "Well, when we put the straitjacket on the comatose patient it didn't help. Therefore it won't help to control this self-destructive manic."

There is enough damn foolishness being talked now to last all of us a lifetime.
