Bill, You are missing the point. The problems are company specific. If you happen to be in the PC industry, the biggest source of revenues in the tech sector, or are one of their suppliers or distributors, then you have a company specific problem. <g>

I wonder how many people have been actually depending directly on the bull market for employment. If you take the mutual fund managers and staff, plus what could easily be superfluous people at brokerages, you're still only talking about maybe 25,000 people. There might be some tens of thousands more "investment advisors," --but I am just guessing. Then you have all the advertising that's connected with it. Every one of these could be dumped and added to the unemployment rolls without much damage to the economy.

I guess the real damage will be the evaporation of "wealth" that some tens of millions of persons imagine themselves to possess. When all these find themselves the owners of negative net worth, and their bankers begin to realize this, things could become extremely boring.

I think it might be time to take up raising and propagating orchids. My sun porch is perfect for that.
