Hi UncleWest!

I have a question for you and hope you will be able to give a fair estimation for an answer. I think if there ever is a person who may know Rambus, that person would be you.
So...here goes.
It appears Rambus is sueing Hitachi for patent infringement for SDRAM and DDR along with a few others. The suit was filed after Hitachi failed to respond to repeated requests by Rambus to conduct further discussions regarding the detailed infringement analysis of Hitachi's non-RDRAM-compatible products which was presented to Hitachi by Rambus in 1999.

Rambus is willing to license its technology to any company for development and use of non-RDRAM-compatible semiconductors. Rambus invented fundamental aspects of high-speed memory interfaces which are currently being implemented in SDRAM and DDR SDRAM and anticipates that semiconductor companies will want to license its technology for use in non-RDRAM-compatible products.
Should Rambus win this suit, would that give them HUGE leverage going out for the next three years or more? I mean,it would seem that everyone who would produce a Rambus based architextured SDRAM and DDR SDRAM would have to pay Rambus Royalities. My take is the very bullish analyst earnings estimates going out do not even take this into consideration. I am getting the feeling Rambus will be Hugeeeee!
Any and all thoughts would greatly be appreciated

Bill
