sofc is it by golly....lets just forget about the extremely
long startup time, that was solved anyway when I suggested
that the car companies will probably create cars that read
your mind and predict when you want to use them....they
then start 10 minutes before you need them.....wow thats
great technology eh....imagine what something like that
would do for the humble toaster

also lets just ignore those insanely high operating
temperatures...all that extra "high-grade" heat can be
used to had onboard coffee/tea makers in cars or even
pop corn...because we will all be watching movies as we
cruise down the highway soon anyway
and zero degradation will occur to these devices due to
high temperature either they got that worked out too that
was done when they build that prototype

Not much difference than a SOFC start up time and a PEM reformer having to warm up before it works, therefore the advantage of the PEM is lost, why pay 10 times more for a power system that does the same thing?

Thanks
Chip

pems and nitrogen oxides...thats crap
its those stupid sofc's and their using gasoline that will
not reduce the amount of smog

pems on hydrogen are smog free

and heres another one of those gle guys in love with
carbon monoxide...what is it with you people?

water vapour is bad and carbon monoxide is good....i
think your all nuts

Mike, just thought I'd let you know, in case you didn't, that Ballard is trying to switch to methanol (you know, that nasty stuff thats being banned), also, you may want to look into the US Department of Energy's website to see what they say about Methanol. You may want to check on your assumptions that H2O are the only emissions from a PEM methanol fuel cell system, H20 is not the only emission, there is talk that a PEM running on methanol may not meet the ULEV emissions standards.
