NW - that's about right. As with all my positions, that is subject to change in the face of new data but so far the scenario is if anything playing out faster than I thought it would. I never thought I would be buying puts on DELL - but it saved my butt today.

Having said that, near term DELL may present an opportunity like CPQ did in November - if it gets beaten down enough - and I will be watching the call premiums closely. DELL is still the fastest growing computer business and they will not stay down for long. I stand by my prediction of low to mid 50s by year end for DELL.

I will probably work my position down, maybe even now via the puts, but will keep some as a core holding.

The way DELL management handles the current situation, and the ones I see coming up, will have a lot to do with how long I stay in the stock. I have little patience with management which intentionally misleads - I got a belly full of that with EP and EM - and I don't believe the story they put out last Q or this Q. The notion that this has much to do with Y2K is nonsense - the unit numbers don't support that, you'd have to be ignorant of the dynamics of the business to believe that. If they don't get back to honest communication I will reduce my holding about 90%, and if they don't show me a better long term business plan I will do the same.
