BWAC--You couldn't be more right about Merrill. Who needs to give them $1500 or 1% a year for the "privilege" of trading? Plus having to put up with their obnoxious brokers? It's my view that OLBs have prospered not only because their fees are much cheaper, but also because there are a whole lot of people that don't want some jerk looking over their shoulder, for one thing, and having to put up with "hot" tips which often prove to be anything but. I've got a friend of mine who is a stockbroker and I can tell you that I've done a hell of a lot better trading on my own that listening to the advice that he and his supposed brilliant research staff gives out... Plus, since I'm not a client of his, I don't have to hear so many endless stories about how he miraculously birdied the 14th hole of Pebble Beach...
