Central Garden & Pet to spin off distribution unit Monday March 20, 11:06 am Eastern Time Central Garden & Pet to spin off distribution unit LAFAYETTE, Calif., March 20 (Reuters) - Central Garden & Pet Co. (NasdaqNM:CENT - news) said on Monday it is planning to spin off its lawn and garden distribution business as a publicly traded company. Central Garden & Pet would continue to operate its existing lawn and garden branded products business, as well as its branded pet products and pet distribution businesses. The spin-off, which is expected to take place in June, would occur after the Securities and Exchange Commission makes effective the company's filing detailing its plans. Central Garden anticipates that the Form 10 will be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission within 30 days and that the review process will take approximately six weeks. Completion of the spinoff is subject to obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals and final authorization by Central's board of directors, among other things. Central Garden & Pet Company is the nation's leading manufacturer, supplier, and merchandiser of consumer lawn and garden and pet supply products.
