jim kelley...solutions to dell's model

there are no solutions, one must take a historical viewpoint and accept the fact that dell did not create this form of a manufacturing model. it was a follower of the original kan ban methods set in place by toyota in the early seventies.

as the model nears perfection, it begins to lose control, as it requires the down stream supply channel to reach the same level of perfection.

it a "perfect" world all runs smoothly, but once the down stream falters, it creates havoc with the production.

one must be willing to accept that the most perfect of perceived models is less then perfect....

as they say: "when she is good, she is very good, but when she is bad....."

and to you mister kelley, and the meatheads of the world who claimed such knowledge of all that is good....just look back at my last year of posts, where i addressed this very issue and was flamed for doubting an icon as "saint michael dell"...

it's a great company, but no greater then those who came before them and faltered as the supply chain weakened....

a good investment at these or lower levels....but not the growth company as before....

you, niles, and the rest of the analysts as you stated were wrong, does that console you? difference between me and you is that i don't spend my life crunching third party numbers to come to an incorrect conclusion and watch the stock price fall off of a ledge.....i base my decisions on past real life experience in the business world....something has not been right with dell for a while..."the silence of mikey" speaks volumes...

good luck...we may have a real buying opportunity this time!
