A good spat was happening over here and I didn't even know it! One of my favorite companies that will become obsolete, vs. one of my favorite companies. I love a good spat. Let's get down to business.

A quick listen to the QCOM conference call should wipe out many of the "arguments" from MCOM ace Gus. We will see 1XRTT deployment on a commercial basis in Korea in July 2000 and in North America in early 2001. That means double the voice capacity of current CDMA systems, data rates of 153K, and burst rates over 300K. Coverage of carriers like VodaBAM and Sprint will be ubiquitous, not limited to the core of a handful of cities. I say why would anyone want a MCOM-like system? By the way, I agree with Clark that W-CDMA deployment by DoCoMo by MArch 2001 is a pipe-dream. Reference Jacobs comments on the subject about how it ACTUALLY will be deployed.
