Russian CBR's Jan 21 FX/gold reserves up on week
Moscow--Jan 27--The foreign exchange/gold reserves of the Central Bank of
Russia as of Jan 21 were at US $12.8 billion, up $200 million from Jan 14, the

Russia's Gokhran bought 16 tonnes of gold in 1999
Moscow--Jan 27--Russia's state depository of precious metals (Gokhran),
bought about 16 tonnes of gold from domestic gold producers last year, Nikolai
Nino, Head of Economic Crime Department at the Interior Ministry said Thursday.

OTC Option Expiry: Gold views mixed; silver seen moving higher
London--Jan 27--Sources were voicing mixed opinions about gold's direction
ahead of over-the-counter options expiry today at 1430 GMT. The major strikes of
interest were said to be US $285.00 per ounce or $280.00--below where spot metal
was trading this morning--but also $290.00 and $295.00. Silver on the other hand
was seen pushing beyond the $5.25 strike and targeting $5.50. (Story .13500)
