in fiscal year 1999 (july) microsoft increased earnings per share by 57 per cent. a repeat of that is almost impossible. projections call for a 20 per cent increase in 2000 and 15 per cent in 2001.

the falling, temporary though it may be, growth rate and the impending legal verdict coming next month are weighing on the stock.

even if microsoft loses in court, a company split along product lines is not so bad. anyway, i think microsoft will prevail on appeal if they don't settle.

company putting all its money into investments and research and development. that will pay off in the long run.
