Geekland,
My personal experience with Wit and IPO's has been positive. I've gotten every one I've applied for including ENGA and NAVI from the CMGI DSP program. I don't consider myself an old boy, a crony, a buddies-buddy, nor do I have any influence to peddle.
I don't know the selection process nor do I particularly care. If I get it I get it. If I don't I don't.
By holding CMGI I indirectly participate in the success of these spinoffs anyhow.
If you are uncomfortable with the answers you have been given, then don't sign up.
Good luck.

Geekland, it's random in the sense that they employ a random number generator to determine which accounts receive the allocation.

Doesn't matter if you own 200 shares or 20,000 shares. Everybody has the same chance...

Geekland - you can't find a more common investor than me and I got both ENGA and NAVI. Sold both too. Boy, am I sorry now, but being so common I had to use the proceeds of one to pay for the other, etc. The method of selection used in the DSP is a Random Number Generator. Other Wit IPOs are first come first serve. I got in on one of those too. Check out the link Scarecrow provided to the CMGI DSP board.

Good luck,

Jim
