Jim - <Hard for me to believe that Intel didn't plan for more than a 3% increase in chip demand year over year, Q4. Something else went wrong...like rough launch. <G>>

There was an original delay in the technology.

I get severly disappointed in your posts when your in a mood like this. I.e., taking every bit of minutae, chop and grind it up, and re-present some spin that has no basis.

McMannis - Re: "Hard for me to believe that Intel didn't plan for more than a 3% increase in chip demand year over year, "

Your simpleton arguments are reflective of your limited thinking capabilities.

When Intel ships an x86 CPU, they generally ship one Northbridge chip set and one Soutbridge chip set and one FLASH chip - along with their CPU.

Thus, an increase in X CPUs requires an increase of 4X Chips .

Add to that a BUSTING-AT-THE SEAMS demand for FLASH chips - and all those ZILLIONS of Alpha Chips that Compaq is demanding (!!!!)- and you have one tremendous growth rate in chip demand.
