"I think it's pretty clear by now that Intel isn't binning a whole lot of high MHz parts. I buy Maxwell's theory that this is largely due to design, rather
than process. That gives AMD about a nine month window with Athlon until Willamette comes out and puts AMD in a world of hurt. Our challenge as
investors in AMD (IMHO) is to time our exit accordingly."

I think the Athlon (should we call it Athlon 2?) with Integrated L2 will be closer to Willamettes Performance (as Scumbria has pointed out in single threaded apps at least)to keep the race alive.

I really believe in Jim's TM of Mhz Sells. So if Willamette is only at 1Ghz and AMD is at 1.2Ghz, most people on the street will buy a 1.2Ghz IMO.

It is a very exciting race don't you think?

Kevin: Re: I for one find quite comical that Intel has hired Elmer as a consultant to fix its problems, but Elmer refuses to admit that any problems exist!

Maybe he was hired to do just that... to try and squash all negative rumors about Intel...to fix its image (or to maintain it). :-)

Kevin, with your lack of knowledge of the business, you wouldn't even begin to understand the work I am doing. I'd explain it to you but frankly, it would be over your head.

You mentioned about 9 months ago that you were SELLING your shares of AMD !

I am selling my AMD and Intel today.

AMD was $15 7/8, I remember on that day !

Your exit strategy was executed a LONG TIME AGO !
