FOMC meets 2/1-2 (tues/wed)... Indeed, 50bpts is a strong possibility. During the Confirmation Hearing, AG was quick to disconnect farm-related commodity woes from rate hikes... something to the effect of demand for bread isn't impacted by i-rates. Sounded like: Don't blame the FED if rates go higher, quicker. On margin requirements: IMO, press was reaching in suggesting that AG/FED would touch this. What I heard was more like: we're aware, we're thinking about it, we don't see a strong correlation between margin and investment behavior. Next week should be fun!
