Rick - thanks for your PM. We have discussed it earlier, and I mentioned that in my original post. I got a voice mail apology from my broker on my Thin Phone tonight to the effect that I "am right and I [broker] am going to the mat with [Paine Webber senior legal] to make an exception". Maybe what I learned here will change Paine Webber policy. Thanks to all from whom I have learned about options and IRA's. John
