ROCK RESOURCES INC. NEWS RELEASE JANUARY 27, 2000 CORPORATE UPDATE A. CHILE: Property Title On January 22, 2000 Rock's Chilean attorney advised Rock Resources that based on his review of all the titles and certified copies of their final awards at the Registrar of Mines of Illapel, Chile that all 13 of the mining concessions comprising Rock's 3,284 hectare (33 sq. kilometer) Coiron Project are duly established and recorded in compliance with the procedures set forth in the Chilean Mining Guide. The only additional requirement in order to maintain these exploitation mining concessions in good standing is the payment of annual license fees by March 31 of each year per Articles 142 of the Chilean Mining Code. The aforementioned taxes are calculated based on one tenth of an index called "UTM" (unidad tributaria mensual) per hectare (approximately US$5.00 per hectare). In other words, the title process beginning with the initial staked claim (pedimento) to the equivalent of a crown grant (mensura) has been successfully completed. B. U.S. Registration Rock Resources has been successful over the past 3 years in building strong relationships to enable access to international capital markets. To further enhance Rock's ability to access North American capital markets, Rock is nearing completion of a United States Securities & Exchange Commission 20F filing statement to enable Rock to become a fully registered and reporting company in the U.S. C. Investor Communication Given our current international shareholder base, Rock Resources provides a portion of our Website (www.rockresources.com) in the following languages: German, Italian, Spanish, French, Korean and Japanese. We wish to advise our European shareholders that Rock Resources Inc.'s share price is quoted daily in the Financial Times of London, England. In conjunction with this quotation, Rock Resources also provides financial information to interested parties through the facilities of WORLD INVESTOR LINK (www.wilink.com). D. Expropriation Rock Resources was pleased to hear that the acting Premier of the Province of B.C., Dan Miller (also Minister of Mines), stated in an address to the mining community earlier this week that the Province of B.C. intends to be much friendlier to the mining community. We trust that this will extend to a proper resolve of our outstanding Supreme Court action against the Province of B.C. whereby Rock is claiming that a minimum of $15 million Cdn. would provide fair compensation for our expropriated mineral claims. Company management sent two samples from the underground workings of the Amber claim blocks in B.C. to Chemex Labs in December 1999 and received assays as follows: 1. Sample #1: 15.49 oz/ton silver 30.4% lead 29.0% zinc 2. Sample #2: 21.40 oz/ton/silver 33.4% lead 30.3% zinc
