I read this thread because I'm interested in the database sector, but I'm also interested in the psychology of people that have been holding on for years to this stock. However, just to be clear up front, I don't own any IFMX, but I don't have a strong feeling one way or other about it as an investment. (I do own ORCL, though.)

So here are my questions, if anyone is interested in answering some of them. How much of the attachment do you think is emotional? Does anyone think that IFMX has a shot at becoming a major player?

There are some people that post on the ODIS thread (or at least did for years) that were always saying that ODI had the best technology and they'd go up like a rocket any minute. What makes an IFMX stockholder think that ODI-boosters are misguided (I've never seen any postings here that didn't read that way to me)? What is it that makes an IFMX stockholder think that datablades are just ahead of the market, as opposed to being the Stanley Steamer technology of the late 90's?

As a comparison, ORCL has been quite volatile, but is basically up a factor of about 10 in the last 4 years, while IFMX is down about a factor of 2, and in the last 2 years has been pretty much stuck where it is (except for some panic selling for a while when it dropped to an absurdly low price). And after this latest earnings report, which looked quite good to me, the stock hasn't budged. I guess my question is, do you look at ORCL and IFMX, for example, and think that IFMX would be a better place for your money right now, or are you just reluctant to give up?
