PR RE: Go.com no longer to be an 'all-purpose' internet portal as "reaffirmed" by the AOL/Time Warner merger:

[snip]

Go.com, the newly-formed Internet subsidiary of the Walt Disney Co., will no longer try to compete with America Online Inc., Yahoo! Inc. and other all-purpose ''portal'' sites on the World Wide Web, the company confirmed Thursday.

A couple of brief comments:

1) RE: Go.com's entertainment/leisure focus - Mr. Wadsworth may be underestimating the Playsite/Hasbro affiliation <g> but I would assume their emphasis would take a different slant (Disney, etc.)...

2) RE: "Vertical Sites" - Note this terminology in reference to other portal sites as quoted by an analyst at Forrester Communiations, Ms Lin.

Comments on the article, anyone? (Be nice! :)
