Nokia's earnings coming out on Tuesday - I think 5 AM Eastern Standard Time. Ericsson *finally* did something useful; they announced very strong GSM/TDMA network sales growth combined with weak mobile phone sales growth.

That's a magical combo for Nokia. It underlines strong GSM and TDMA network expansion, yet tells us that Ericsson lost heavily mobile handset market share in Asia, North America and South America, where its consumer product sales growth was below 10%.

Since we already know that Motorola lost some global handset market share in 4Q, there's now only one explanation for where the bulk of the growth from 4Q came from. OK - Siemens presumably mopped up some of the European Xmas bounce and Samsung is resurgent in North America. That still leaves most of Motorola's and Ericsson's market share losses unexplained. Until Tuesday.
