FOCUS-Euro remains weak, European shares retreat
(adds U.S. data, Dow outlook, updates prices)

By Paul Richardson

LONDON, Jan 28 (Reuters) - The euro fell to fresh lows against the dollar on Friday as European share markets turned mixed in anticipation of steep losses on Wall Street later.

S&P futures indicated the Dow Jones index (^DJI - news) would fall sharply at the opening after the release of strong U.S. economic indicators, raising expectations for a Federal Reserve interest rate hike next week.

Debt prices also fell after the stronger-than-expected U.S. fourth quarter GDP and Employment Cost Index (ECI) data.
