Niceguy,

Re:"dell and amd"

Well you have a point.

If Intel tops out at 900Mhz or so and AMD starts shipping 1Ghz and above in high volumes Dell will be in a world of hurt.

I just don't expect this to happen.

My mid year Intel may be running close to 20-30M pcs/qtr on cumine.

Even a 5% binsplit will give decent volumes of 1.5M pcs/qtr.

So if Intel is yielding 800Mhz in say 15% binsplit range with improvement i see reasonable chance for intel to get to 900-933 speed grade mid-year.

And I am sure a crew at intel is on a path to do another process tweak and design tweaks to squeeze more out of the ole P6.

Now If willamette gets delayed to next year.

And thunderbird comes out in mid year (although some recent reports have suggested a delay) and dresden comes on-line then i could see it.

Right now I just don't.

regards,

Kash
