Kasten Chase Announces KastenNet Trading Access
TORONTO, CANADA January 27, 2000 - Kasten Chase (TSE:KCA) announces the upcoming launch of KastenNet Trading Access (KTA) on February 1, 2000 at the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE) STAMP Technology Exhibit. KastenNet Trading Access, part of the KastenNet service bureau, provides trading and market information over secure, reliable, low cost network access to the TSE's trading system via the STAMP protocol. STAMP is the Securities Trading Access Message Protocol used by Canadian exchanges.
The TSE recently announced that as of September 1, 2000 the only access to the TSE would be through STAMP compliant devices. Kasten Chase is the sole supplier of PC CATS Workstations and CATS Gateways used to access the TSE's Computer Assisted Trading System (CATS). KastenNet Trading Access allows CATS users convenient migration to STAMP compliant access to the TSE trading system.
The KTA Workstation has the "look and feel" of PC CATS with the addition of advanced features such as double-click, Registered Trader functionality, expanded Stock Watch features, and MarketBook. All TSE market inquiries including Market by Order and Market by Price will be generated from the TSE's Toronto Broadcast Feed (TBF). Order Log and other order-related inquiries will also be provided.
The STAMP-compliant Gateway, licensed exclusively to Kasten Chase, was developed by Interactive Transaction Systems (ITS) and has been certified by the TSE. KTA will be run on KastenNet where Kasten Chase manages the facilities and the redundant communications to the TSE. Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) will also be provided so those firms that wish to, can generate orders directly to the Gateway. Connectivity to other exchanges will be implemented over the next several months.
"The initial reaction from the street has been extremely positive," said Barbara Howard, director of financial sales at Kasten Chase. "We have designed KTA with the breadth of functionality required to meet the needs of the entire brokerage community. The availability of KTA through the KastenNet service bureau appeals to the small to medium size firms, while larger firms will license the technology to run on site."
"KTA is powered by VersaPath and is part of the KastenNet service," added Dave Mulder, vice president and chief technology officer. "VersaPath provides the encryption, authentication, centralized user management, automated backup and broadcast management required to provide security and reliability for the KTA application."
KTA is part of a family of products and services that Kasten Chase will be introducing for both professional and non-professional traders in the months ahead. These include KTA Order Management System (OMS), KTA Analytical Workstation, and KTA Omni Manager.
Pricing and Availability KTA will be available for beta testing March 1, 2000 and production in April for as low as $350 per month per user. Site licenses will also be available.
