JMAR Tech In Tech Licensing Pact With
Philips Semicon

SAN DIEGO -- Jmar Technologies Inc.'s (JMAR) Jmar Semiconductor
unit entered a licensing agreement with Philips Electronics' (PHG) Philips
Semiconductors unit.

Financial terms weren't disclosed.

In a press release Thursday, Jmar Tech said Philips will transfer portions
of its gate array design and manufacturing technology to Jmar
Semiconductor under the agreement.

Jmar Semiconductor plans to use the technology for a broad range of
commercial and military applications. Jmar Semiconductor may also reach
Philips customers whom that company no longer supports due to
technology or volume considerations.

Jmar Tech said it expects Jmar Semiconductor to be profitable in 1999
based on $8 million in revenue, compared with $3 million last year.

Jmar Tech provides measurement and inspection systems for
high-precision, sub-micron manufacturing applications. The company also
develops laser and x-ray light sources for microelectronics manufacturing.
