Averaging Down

Lucius, I heard long ago that it's not a good idea to "average down", meaning to buy shares of stock as its price drops...."on sale" as it were. I've never understood why. Could you or anyone explain?

Thanks, Kay

<LOL> You're in good company, Luke. Since I've been holding a 10% cash position, I've been tempted to buy more Q myself. But I opted to lower the beta of my holdings, and bought more of the "Gorilla Index Fund", QQQ, instead. My new (real time) allocations are,

qcom 51%
ntap 13%
gmst 12%
qqq 11%
csco 8%
sebl 3%
cash 2%

Q has been oh so good to me, but Mr. Market reminds me I am a retired guy and must stay humble. Still Gorilla gaming, though <vbg>.

Lucius

I Know the feeling and had to fight the temptation of really going over board with a large purchase. However Qcom at 110 was hard to pass up.
