Gary, part of it also has to do with an ever larger portion of Amazon sales simply being a warehousing site that sends customers to other vendors, who then have to hire people. This deal with Drugstore.Com shows how they can increase sales through Amazon while cutting their own work force.

Also, little known to the bulls, Amazon is cash strapped and cannot afford to pay people. If the stock declines, options don't entice and they once did and cash is out of the question.

There is simply no way Amazon can maintain repeat customers at any high percentage when B&N and CD-Now are giving away the products.
