eLEC Communications Announces Release of Interactive Yellow Page Service, QuillPages.com; eLEC Finds Interest in QuillPages as B2B Tool for Manufacturers and Wholesalers
Business Wire - January 28, 2000 13:20
NORWALK, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--January 28, 2000--eLEC Communications Corp. (NASDAQ:ELEC) announced today the release of its interactive yellow page service, QuillPages.com. QuillPages provides eLEC's telecommunications and Internet business customers with a highly affordable way of advertising and promoting their businesses on the Internet through a powerful distribution network that links QuillPages' customers' businesses to over 80% of the Internet. In addition, eLEC is finding an unexpected interest in QuillPages as a B2B tool linking manufacturers and wholesalers with their retail distribution networks.

Pedro Mata, eLEC's Director of Design, stated, "With no upfront design fee and a minimal recurring charge of $24.95 per month, we can provide our customers with an affordable yet powerful tool to promote their businesses on the Internet. With QuillPages' distribution network, our customers do not have to compete in the hugely expensive portal wars fighting for eyeballs on the Internet. Instead, our customers get to ride the wave of the overall growth of the Internet."

"In addition to the distribution network," continued Mr. Mata, "we have created a series of tools that further enable our customers to maximize the benefits of the Internet. For instance, though free e-mail service is included with a QuillPage, we have also included a fax service that allows our customers to interact with their customers through a simple click and fax service. In this way, our customers can be transacting business on the Internet through their fax machines, without even having to own a computer."

Paul Riss, eLEC's CEO, stated, "We believe that QuillPages will provide our CLECs with an invaluable service with which they can promote our core telecommunications business. Our long-term vision at eLEC is to be a single point of service for all our customer's communications needs. It is undeniable that the Internet should be an integral part of any company's communications requirements, and with QuillPages we provide our customers an "e" YellowPage from their "e" LEC (Local Exchange Carrier)."

"We are pleased with the value that QuillPages brings to our small-business telecommunications and ISP customers," continued Mr. Riss. "In addition, we have found an unanticipated interest from larger manufacturers and wholesalers in the use of a QuillPage as a B2B link with their retail distribution networks. We are currently having preliminary discussions with interested parties and are excited about the B2B potential of QuillPages."
